Chat and Play sessions

Chat and Play sessions have been running at the centre for several years, and currently run every Monday with a morning and afternoon session for 0-4 year olds in Tan Lan Community Centre. The group has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the sessions help children develop their social skills by playing, taking turns and sharing toys with other children. The session also gives the opportunity for parents to chat and meet with other parents.
Building Buddies Play Session

Building Buddies Session for pre-school aged children (0-4years old).
Building Buddies began in September 2024, designed by Heather our Play Coordinator. The group currently runs on Wednesday afternoons in Tan Lan Community Centre for age 0-4 years and has proved very popular from the start.
During this group children are always on the go and full of energy. Children enjoy using their imagination to create dens, houses and castles, sometimes even obstacle courses! Building play helps to improve children's hand eye coordination and their fine and gross motor skills. Using the equipment provided, children are able to engage with other children through sharing a problem solving whilst learning the names of the shapes and colours of the blocks.
Sensory Adventures Play Session

Sensory Adventures Session for pre-school aged children (0-4years old).
Sensory Adventures started in September 2024 and again designed by our Play Co-ordinator, Heather as part of her job role at Home-Start Conwy. It's an active and messy group that allows children to develop their senses through touch and sight and to explore new textures and sensory experiences.
Children learn to co-ordinate and use their hands through the activities provided, for example, playing in jelly, foam, edible sand and gloop. Heather has also researched how to make it taste safe for babies so that all ages can join in. This group is for 0-4 year olds and is currently running in our Tan Lan Community Centre on Tuesday mornings.
Baby Club Play Session

Baby Club Play Session for children 0-1years old.
Baby Club was established in January 2025, this is a new group created by our Play Co-ordinator Heather in response to parent feedback, and is for children aged 0-1 years. The group has been very well attended since its establishment, it's been wonderful to see first-time mums connecting with other mums, sharing their insights and experiences. This group runs on Thursday afternoons in Tan Lan Community Centre.
Festival Tots Play Session

Festival Tots Play Session for pre-school aged children (0-4 years old).
Working together with and held at the Festival Church Old Colwyn LL29 9YF
Festival Tots started in January 2025, this group is in collaboration with the Festival Church in Old Colwyn and has enabled us to bring a parent and toddler group into the heart of the community. This session is very similar to the chat and play sessions that we run at our Tan Lan centre and is for children aged 0-4 years. The group gives children and parents the opportunity to socialise with others in a friendly and welcoming location. Running alongside this group there is a community breakfast club in caffi festival offering a free breakfast to the community. This group runs every Wednesday morning at The Festival Church Old Colwyn LL29 9YF
